About Frosty 4Wheeler
This is all we do. This is not a side hustle for us. We recover vehicles full time, year round and commit every dollar and minute to being the best we can at it. Our truck has been fully customized to handle the most advanced recoveries known to our area. Call us whenever you are stuck or in need of offroad towing or problem solving.
Frosty 4Wheeler started as a passion with over 20 years of experience and became a full time job January 1, 2021. We are a locally owned small business. We operate out of Mammoth Lakes, California, serving the entire Eastern Sierra.

Alex and I started this business because we noticed more and more traffic on our favorite trails and more people asking for help off-road. Not everyone has access to off-road support groups and rescue forums and not everyone has the luxury of waiting hours for a "good Samaritan" to show up and save the day while passing by. We decided this had to change and no one was going to abandon their car for a season if we had anything to do with it. We operate year round, 24 hours a day because we know accidents and errors don't take time off and happen all the time.
We are a husband and wife team and we have been off-roading and exploring the Eastern Sierra area for over a decade with our dogs and 4x4's. We know a thing or two about getting stuck and un-stuck and we have also had our fair share of trail breaks and repairs so don't hesitate to give us a call the next time you find yourself in a sticky situation. Our service area includes all of Mono County, from Benton to the Sonora Pass. Because we operate out of Mammoth Lakes California we are usually within an hour from most of our calls.

We want visitors and locals alike to use our professional services when they get stuck so they aren’t tearing up the trails and lake beds without the proper equipment. We also want to prevent people from getting desperate and potentially hurting themselves or their vehicles trying to get back to camp or home. We carry all the necessary equipment and haven’t had a job too tough for us yet! #FROSTED

Meet The Frosty Team
Alex (Frosty) Carter
Mr. Owner
Alex Carter has been exploring further and further into the Eastern Sierra for over a decade. His favorite place is the Rubicon Trial just outside of Lake Tahoe. It was only recently that Alex discovered he can use his exemplary rigging and recovery skills to calmly help people through some of their most stressful moments involving a vehicle. Alex does all his own wrenching and maintenance, which there is plenty of with trucks older than he is.

Jena Carter
Mrs. Owner
Jena Carter grew up playing in the dirt and snow so she is most comfortable outside somewhere getting filthy and using her hands. Jena enjoys spotting vehicles through precarious situations and usually has a camera in her hand, documenting anything and everything. Jena works hard to make sure everyone is safe and happy so go ahead and ask her if you can have a water bottle or sticker.

Maple-Bean
The Recover-collie
Maple has been on every single recovery since she was 6 weeks old. She knows a thing or two about kinetic energy and closed loop recovery systems. Not only is she great at quality control, Maple's main job is also to calm everyone down. After the recovery, she usually gets to play with the customer or the Frosty crew. Maple has 2 pitbulls at home that complete her pack but they don't get to come on recoveries like she does.

Our Services
Off-Road Vehicle Recovery:
Towing & Winching
No tow points? No problem, we have a bridle and a MasterPull Mini Mac that makes it so we can safely connect to any vehicle. We use kinetic ropes and soft shackles to ensure no further damage occurs trying to rescue you.

We have all the equipment needed to get your vehicle un-stuck any circumstance whether you're in mud, dirt, sand, snow, water or ice, there isn't a job too tough for Frosty 4Wheeler.
Roadside Assistance
Secondary to vehicle recoveries, we offer limited road-side assistance. If we become too busy with back to back recoveries, we stop offering road-side assistance so we can better serve customers that are stranded or need recovering.

Frosty 4Wheeler is committed to getting the job done any time of day. From jumpstarts at 2:00am to a tire change at lunch time and everything in-between, call us and we will be there with our tools and experience.
Part Delivery
Broken down on the trail or at your campsite and need a part? Call us and we will help make arrangements to deliver the part straight to you, wherever you are.
You just pay for the part over the phone directly with the retailer and we will drive it to you, anytime of day. We can even bring you water if needed, just let us know!

Licensed and Insured
We carry general liability and commercial auto insurance on our recovery vehicles and we hold a Town of Mammoth Lakes business license (#9364). We also take annual safety classes provided by CalTrans and The National Highway Institute.

Latest Technology
We only use the safest, latest and greatest tools and gear. We use mechanical advantages with our winch, like sheaves or a load distribution plate to maximize our winching power, that combined with hundreds of feet of extension has made it so we can accomplish the impossible. Over the years, recovering hundreds of different vehicles we have learned through experience what works for us and what doesn't. We only support high quality brands that make our lives easier, brands such as Warn and Factor55.
Fastest Response Around
We are proud to say we can be almost anywhere in Mono County in about an hour. Some areas of the county will take longer due to the distance but most response times are within an hour from the time of call. We do our best to share our location with every customer, so you can track us in real time while we make our way out to you. Frosty 4Wheeler responds to calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When we aren't out rescuing people, you can find us getting our trucks dirty somewhere exploring with our dogs.

We accept almost every form of payment imaginable. We accept major credit cards, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, ApplePay, cash or even checks too.
